What software is available to program and troubleshoot Series 90-30 PLCs?
There are 3 software packages available for this purpose.
Logicmaster 90-30 – This is the original software for the Series 90-30. It is DOS-based and can run in Windows 95, 98 and 2000 environments. It is not supported by GE Fanuc in Windows XP and Vista environments. This is a mature product, meaning no further enhancements are planned.
VersaPro Standard Edition – This is a Windows-based package and can run in Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP environments. It is not supported by GE Fanuc in the Windows Vista environment. In addition to the Series 90-30, VersaPro Standard can also program Series 90 Micros and certain VersaMax Micro and modular PLCs. This is also a mature product.
Proficy Machine Edition Logic Developer PLC Standard Edition – This is a Windows-based package and can run in Windows 2000, XP and Vista environments. This is the current software package for Series 90-30 PLCs. It supports all of the same PLCs that VersaPro Standard can plus a number of newer Series 90-30 and VersaMax PLC that VersaPro Standard does not. Enhancements to this software are on-going. This is the only software that will support new Series 90-30 and VersaMax CPUs and modules as they come out.

When I try to download the configuration to my Series 90 CPU, the download fails because passwords are disabled. How do I fix this?
This error occurs when the user tries to download a configuration where the CPU is configured for “Passwords Enabled” and the CPU being downloaded to is set for “Passwords Disabled.” Once passwords are disabled in a Series 90 CPU, the only way to download a configuration where the CPU is configured for “Passwords Enabled” is to completely erase the memory in the target CPU. This can be done by powering down the CPU, disconnecting the battery, and powering up the CPU with the battery still disconnected. This should clear the memory. In certain cases with the Series 90-30 CPUs, you may have to clear the memory by shorting out a super-capacitor on the CPU module by removing the CPU from the baseplate and shorting across two solder pads labeled “MEM CLR” for about 10 seconds. Once the memory is erased, a configuration with passwords enabled can be downloaded to the CPU.
An alternative solution would be to change the configuration being downloaded to a “Passwords Disabled” setting and then download the configuration to the CPU. Only do this when passwords are not a concern.
My Series 90 CPU stopped. How do I identify the cause?
Take note of the LEDs on the power supply and the CPU. Key LEDs are the POWER LED (power supply health) and the OK LED (CPU health). If these are OK, use one of the available programming packages (Logicmaster 90, VersaPro or Proficy Machine Edition Logic Developer PLC), connect to the Series 90’s programming port and display the PLC and I/O fault tables. These should lead you to the root cause of the stoppage. Please note that if the CPU’s OK LED is out, the software will not communicate.
My PC will not communicate to the programming port on my Series 90 CPU. What are the possible causes of this problem?
There are several possibilities:
Bad port on the PC – Try using the PC’s serial port to communicate to another device in order to confirm proper operation
Bad cable – Try connecting to another Series 90 PLC in order to confirm the condition of the cable.
Incorrect communication settings in the software – The default settings for the Series 90 CPU programming port is 19200 BAUD, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and odd parity. In cases where you suspect that the setting has changed and you have a copy of the PLC configuration, compare the CPU’s port configuration to your software’s port settings.
Bad programming port – Check the +5 volt pin (pin 5) on the programming port versus pin 7 (0 volts). If the +5 volts is not present, the fuse for that port is blown and this fuse is not field-replaceable.

Can I program my Series 90-30 IC693 CPU364, CPU372 and CPU374 through the serial port on the CPU module?
No. This port is for the Ethernet Station Manager only.
Can I use the external 24VDC output on the Series 90-30 power supply to power external devices?
Yes. However, you need to be aware that using this output reduces the amount of current available on the 24VDC output that goes to the Series 90-30 modules via the baseplate. There is only 0.625A total available current on the 24VDC output of the power supply.

Introduction: GE Fanuc 90-30 Troubleshooting Guide – Testing a Genius Bus Controller This troubleshooting guide is a test of a Genius bus controller, an. There are two ways to test it and configure it in Proficy Machine Edition. Illustrated is an IC693CHS397, 5-slot rack powered by an IC693PWR330 power supply and an IC693CPU374 plus processor. Also illustrated for this test is an IC660BBA020. You don’t have to have this specific Genius block, but it is illustrated because it has both inputs and outputs and are needed for the illustration. Also illustrated is the IC660HHM501 handheld monitor. Step 1: In Proficy Machine Edition Open New File and Select Main Rack To begin go into Proficy Machine Edition for a moment.
Open up a brand new file and select a main rack. Switch to the CHS397, 5-slot rack, PWR330, and CPU374 plus. In slot number two is the BEM331. You should see the same physical configuration in front of you that you’ve got in your Proficy Machine Edition software. You’ll do two configurations.
Step 2: Navigate to CPU Settings First, with slot number 1, CPU374. If you double click on slot number one, the tab will pop open so that you can make adjustments to the settings of the CPU. Under settings and under subcategory parameters the fourth selection from the bottom is key switch run stop.
Key switch run stop activates so when the processor is in run mode and you turn it on, it goes into run mode, but you are able to shut it off from the processor. Step 3: Configure BEM331 Now you should have that set as enabled. And the next thing you do is to double click on slot number two to configure your BEM331. And under the device type, for this particular configuration, the way it is configured, the hand held monitor, the Genius block, is as a 4 analog input, 2 analog output serial bus address. Which is SBA number 1, just for simplicity sake. Step 4: Test Genius Block Bus vs.

Genius Block BBA020 So.the first thing you’re going to do to test this is to test the Genius block bus controller against the Genius block, BBA020. Currently the block is powered up and it’s okay. There’s only one LED on. The I/O enabled circuit is not on right now. There’s a serial cable connection that’s terminated with a 150 ohm resistor.
The model number for your Hunter fan is a 5-digit number that my also include a letter at the end (e.g. 22345A).* You will find the model number for all fans on the. At the other end of that serial is the actual genius bus controller. If you look, screw 4 is going to serial 1 and screw 6 is going to serial 2, and again you have it terminated with a 150 ohm resistor and shielded.
Your shield cable is on number sixteen. Your shield cable is shield in on the Genius block. Step 5: First Test In this illustration the Genius block has been configured using the handheld monitor as a serial bus address number 1 or block number 1.

What you’re looking for is two things when you are using a Genius block for this test. Peggle nights free mac. First thing is that when you turn the key into the on position, you should get an I/O enabled LED. This tells you that the Genius bus controller is actually communicating now with the genius block when you’ve turned this switch on.You should have an IO enabled LED on. The second part of the test, more importantly, is whether the Genius block in your particular case is analog in and analog out. And the purpose for that is that when you touch the analog input with voltage, you should be able to see that voltage being read through the analog input, through your default analog input tables. So that tells you that you’re able to put a power source here, 0 to 10 volts, and you are able to see that value go through the Genius bus controller to the Proficy Machine Edition.
Then that verifies that that part is working. The other thing you want to do is the analog output.
You can do the reverse effect, meaning are you able to put a value in the analog output table and read it through the voltage out of the Genius Block itself. And that way you’ll know it can communicate both ways. It can tell the Genius Block what to do and the Genius Block can send a signal through the genius bus controller, the BEM331, to Proficy Machine Edition. So that is the first way to test it and that is a pretty thorough and complete way to test it. Step 6: Second Test The second way to test it is using UMK-SE11,25-1 from Phoenix Contact.
